It's been a big 24 hours for the Turkish National Team. First the find out they will face the US National Team in a large American football stadium in Philadelphia, then they discover that Guus Hiddink has agreed to a two-year deal to become their manager. The deal won't be effective for the US match as Hiddink's contract runs thru the summer, but it will mean The Guus will be in charge of Turkey's Euro 2012 qualification campaign. Which do you think is more exciting to the Turkish players? Hiddink or the chance to eat cheese steaks? The news dashes the hopes of some Americans who had hoped Hiddink would replace Bob Bradley as manager of the US team.

Manchester City (legend?) Paul Dickov is on trail with Toronto FC of Major League Soccer. The only reason I bring this up is I can almost hear the wheels turning in the minds of Columbus Crew supporters thinking up all the "funny" jokes and chants they can make using Dickov.

Of course the real BIG news from the past 24 hours is the creation of the Ginge Twitter Sports Network Feed. At last everyone who gets tired of my comments on Kentucky basketball and curling can enjoy my regular twitter feed without the incursion of non-footy topics. No doubt, you are rejoicing.
