Conspiracy Uncovered?

Seems my beloved Everton is close to signing Landon Donovan on a 3-month loan to begin in January. While there will be plenty of discussion about this in the next few weeks, I think the real reason behind the loan deal might have been uncovered by a user on an Everton message board I frequent...
"This is a ploy by England to eliminate Donovan from the World Cup. Obviously he will sustain some injury as soon as he steps into Goodison"
Interesting theory indeed!

As for Donovan at Everton...Moyes needs the bodies with all the injury problems, but I struggle to see exactly when and where he will play. I worry about how he will handle the physicality and speed on the EPL. It's not that Donovan doesn't have pace, something Everton needs desperately at the moment, it's the fact that players often take 6 months to a year to get used to the style of play in the EPL. From an Everton perspective, it can't hurt to have him on the roster for a couple months but I just wonder what kind of impact he will have. Time will tell I suppose and the loan still has to be made offiicial as well. While you are waiting for the loan to come through, try your hand (or foot) at online sports betting. It's a great way to have fun and win some extra money.

Thank you for using two of my favorite pictures! I would rather see him play for Club America or a Mexican side (think it is a better fit). I at least like that he is pursuing other options and wants to play. Have to respect that.
he's far from a physical player and playing in northern england at that time. Good luck landy.
True, Landon isn't a physical player, but neither is Giggsy, they both protect themselves with their field vision. I doubt it will be a huge hurdle, they are pretty physical in Germany and that's not why he left.
He'd be better suited to a one-touch passing team like any of the big 4, but I suppose he's just not good enough.
As for pace, wth? Landon's pace is World Class, it's not an issue of him being able to keep up, it's the other way around. It's his best asset, he's flat out the fastest player on the pitch every time he steps on the pitch.
If he's asked to do a lot of defending, it's probably going to be a short term deal. Managers that build the team to suit Landon's strengths win, and so does Landon. Teams that ask him to fill niche roles that he's no good at, usually fail.
He has shredded international defenders with his pace and vision for a decade all over the Globe, the only difference here is that the defenders are slower and the level of physical play is much higher.
