Best of FCD Blog Reader Comments: Columbus Post-Match

After a run of good form, FC Dallas came back down to earth, falling 2-0 to the Columbus Crew. Once again, a set piece situation was the downfall for Dallas as Vampire Dario (he fears the cross) fell victim to a Chad Marshall header.
Comments about the match quickly fall by the wayside as the worst play-by-play man in sports, Brad Sham, takes a beating from fans for yet another abysmal performance behind the microphone showing he knows shit about soccer and should just stick to kissing Jerry Jones' ass.

"Another tough loss. Tough to go into Columbus and get a win. Hopefully we can get points next week." -soccerroo
"will someone please tell schellas that when you need a goal, avila is better than rocha....i am so sick and tired of poor in game management. no way we win in Columbus but a tie was possible" -Anonymous
"AVILA, AVILA, AVILA!!!!!!! The kid is a difference maker! Are we mathematically eliminated from the playoffs yet? How do the playoff spots work out? The defending against the Gaven goal was abysmal. SH - go back to SMU. Were tired of losing." -Clm1403
"wow all this talk about Avi and I haven't said a word yet. I have said all along he can be a difference maker and have gotten slammed for talking about one player. It's what I know though. I've watched him play at UCSB up until now and he can do it if given the chance. SH doesn't seem to want to do that though. Stupid...stupid...stupid. And I am not saying Avi is the savior of the season or of this team...but seriously could he really hurt it?" -socal fan
"I don't care if he's a legend. Brad Sham is terrible!" -Wes
"More original excuses from SH! Surprize, surprize! Note to Rocha: "Go to Brazil! Do NOT pass Go! Do NOT collect $200! Catch the slow boat if you will... it's speed will suit you!" I am so tired of seeing this #11 shirt in slow motion, giving away balls, not hustling after players, just send him home and PLAY AVILA! Give the kid Avila a chance. He has speed and more importantly ISN'T AFRAID TO SHOOT!" -HammerHead
"Rocha needs to go. The only thing he does is help fulfill the requirement of having 11 men on the pitch." -Matt
"DONT WORRY FANS WE GOT RED BULLS NEXT ... SH CANNOT POSSIBLE SCREW THAT ONE...CAN HE ??" -Anonymous
"I have to agree about Brad Sham's soccer play calling... boring, non-descript, and often inaccurate (is it hard to see from up there or something? Need a spotter maybe?). Bobby Rhine is doing a terrific job with color commentary and insight about the team, but the pairing with Sham seems somehow uncomfortable every game. Sham's play calling often leaves me wondering how familier he really is with the team and the game. Maybe he is very familiar, but it does not come across that way most games. Not sure why except that maybe he is searching for the next sales spot while the play develops and misses the action?" -Anonymous
"Thank you, someone finally said something about Brad Sham. He is so bad that he kills my interest in the game. He does not know about the different computations that the league plays in, he gets players names wrong all the time, he talks about things that have nothing to do with the game, He clearly has no clue about what a good play is or isn’t. A slice of cheese? Really?" -Anonymous
"no bobby and brad aren't at the games. they are watching a tv and comentating at PHP i believe." -Anonymous
"Ok, are you serious ? The TV crew is not at the game ? Please tell me this is not true ?
How embarrassing" -Anonymous
"I was trying to deal with the extremely non-descriptive play calling until this last game when Sham's entire description of Columbus' second goal was 2 words... "side netting" as the screen showed Eddie Gaven running past in celebration of what was actually a goal. Now I have been at games and have occasionally confused a shot that hit the side netting with a goal, but not often do you confuse an actual goal with a non-goal due to the celebration. I would think this would be especially true when being paid (I assume) to call the game on tv. There was not even any description during the run of play of how Gaven found his way in and beat the defenders prior to the shot. Just "side netting" after the play ended when it was actually a game-killing goal. We all see things wrong occasionally, but a better description of an attacker running into the box and blasting a shot passed the defense would be appreciated -- goal or not." -Anonymous
"I am totally embarrassed that this club is too cheap to buy a plane ticket and fly their crew up to the away games. That is just ridiculous. No wonder it sounds like they are in a sound proof booth. So what do they do watch the feed from the Columbus local broadcast ???
Hitch you are an idiot" -Anonymous
"It would be better if they were at the games but Brad has been bad at calling soccer along. It does not matter where he is. He has no idea how the game is played or how to call it." -Anonymous
